MeeGo Applications

SnapGo Suite

Modern mobile devices feature an extensive set of hardware features which can be used in many ways not immediately apparent out-of-the-box. Always having them on your person means you can use them to enhance all sorts of activities. SnapGo aims to leverage these mobile devices and to provide a suite of simple applications to assist photographers in basic calculations and data recording in the field. From exposure (using data from the cameras and built-in light meter), to sun direction, to GPS track recording for geolocation tagging.

SnapGo Lightmeter

The N9 (and N950's) built-in cameras, as well as the built-in light meter, should provide an effective way to measure available light for calculating exposure. Useful both for film and digital photographers, especially when working with multiple people to set up shots in the studio.

SnapGo Geolocation

Most standalone cameras don't include GPS-modules for built-in geolocation recording, but nearly all modern phones do. By recording geolocation information on your phone in the form of a GPX track and ensuring that the clock on your camera is synched with your phone, you can combine this information in post-processing to get geolocation information for photos taken on your DSLR or your Point'n'Shoot.

Advanced Backlight

A project I worked on for Maemo 4 with Adam Harwell and Jonas Hurrelmann, providing design, input, testing and website creation. Advanced Backlight reduced status-bar space constraints by combining two applets into one to control back backlight level and volume. It also allowed finer-grain control over the backlight setting (up to 127 levels from Nokia's default 5) and control over screen rotation. More information is available from the Garage page.
